Production data acquisition with SAP interface
The ipcas PDA Terminal collects wide ranging production data (e.g. requests) either automatically using a barcode scanner or by manual entry. The data terminal is connected to an Ethernet network, and transfers the recorded data directly to an SQL server.
A PHP-based Internet page serves as the interface between SAP and the SQL database. SAP can call and process the required data. With its highly flexible and open structure, the Ethernet Data Terminal substantially facilitates data sharing and the integration into other systems.

Production Data Acquisition (PDA) in SAP

Example: Assembly workstation:The request to be performed at these workplaces ranges from production and assembly to repairs. Requests or jobs are assinged only to those employees who actually deal with them. Training, staff meetings, ect. held during work hours are treated as staff overhead. Every employee is given a unique personal identification number which is encoded in the barcode on his swipe card. Every workplace also has additional barcodes for overhead costs entry. Every workplace is equipped with its own Ethernet Data Terminal for Production Data Acquisition (PDA). The Ethernet Data Terminal with its network connection and integrated barcode reader interface enables fast and immediate data access for SAP production reporting.

Initial steps prior to starting work:
The employee arrives at his/her workplace and is given an assembly order.
- Identification of staff with his/her personnel number. Automatic acquistion of personnel number with the barcode scanner or manual entry with the terminal touch pad.
- Automatic acquistion of type and specifics of work order by scanning the barcode or manual entry of barcode number
- Staff meeting at 11:00 am: The staff member enters the time as overhead costs by scanning the overhead costs barcode or manual entry before leaving his workplace.
- After the meeting he returns to his workplace to continue with his job.He scans his personal number and work order. He can start with either job or personel data-the order is irrelevant.
During the staff meeting, job processing is suspended. After the break, different staff may complete the work order. The same principle applies to starting, stopping or completing a job: automatic barcode scanning or manual number entry
