Hardware: Ethernet Terminal / MDA-PDA Terminal
The trend for PC-based data acquisition terminals is now increasingly moving towards the multi-functional terminal.
The ipcas Ethernet Terminal aptly reflects this trend
as a universal terminal for production and machine data acquisition (PDA/MDA), time data collection (TDC), computerized quality
control (CAQ), and access control.

Various versions of the Ethernet Terminal
Panel-mounted version:
The panel-mounted version of the Ethernet Terminal consists of only the bare terminal device (front plate without casing) and can be customized suitably to be installed into a production machine or control cabinet. If assembled professionally, a protection class rating of IP 54 can also be achieved.
|
Industry version:
The industrial version of the Ethernet terminals is enclosed in a stable plastic casing with a protection rating of IP54. This is mainly reserved for dust/spray-susceptible, industrialized areas. The industry version includes additional cable bushings (M16/20 und M25/32).
|
TMS version:
The slim TMS (Time Management System) version of the terminal is ideal for (customer) entry areas. It is especially suitable for time data collection (TDC) or as an access control terminal. This version achieves a protection class rating of IP54.

Compact design
The energy-efficient design enables the MDA/PDA terminal to work without a fan, which in turn accounts for its
compact size. The measurements of the panel-mounted version is only 165,4/217,4/31mm (W/H/D) and can be inserted
into a machine or control cabinet. The measurements of the Industry version are 254/180mm (different heights on request).
This version is very stable and suitable for difficult industral conditions.
Integrated RFID technology
The MDA Ethernet Terminal is equipped with a RFID reader and an antenna for the wireless transmission of data or
for identification. The transponder of the type "Micro (EM4102)" based on 125kHz technology is integrated
into a RFID card and added to the PDA terminal.
4 digital inputs / 2 relay outputs
The ipcas network terminal has four digital inputs for recording digital data such as machine or process data,
operating data, or pulses. The terminal has got two relay outputs to control external devices.
Serial Interface RS232/RS485
With the integrated SUB-D9 RS232 interface or RS485 connector, additional devices such as barcode readers, label printers,
magnetic card readers, measuring and testing devices, etc. can be connected easily to the MDA-PDA Terminal.
Ethernet RJ45 Interface
With the RJ45 interface (LAN 10BaseT Ethernet), the terminal can be connected to the network for PDA, TMS, MDA or CAQ.
Due to Ethernet connection data can be sent over long distances without any time-consuming and expensive RS485 cabling.
Power Supply 18-36V DC
The ipcas network terminal works with the industrial standard voltage of 18-36V DC.
Diagnostics LEDs
The diagnostics LEDs at the sub-panel (Power, System, Error, RS232 or RS485 Send/Receive, Ethernet Send/Receive/Link) enables easy status reading.
Singnal LEDs
On the front, the terminal has got four freely programmable signal LEDs. These LEDs can be customized for requests or to display error reports.
LCD display
The Ethernet terminal features a bright backlit 4-line LCD display which guarantees good readability.
Front metal plate
The Panel-mounted, Industry, and TMS versions of the MDA-PDA Terminal have got a robust 2mm aluminum front plate for protection.
Beeper
A beeper is integrated into the ipcas network terminal to emit acoustic event messages.
Fanless
Due to its low heating properties the ipcas multi-function terminal works without a fan or ventilation slots. This ensures safe round-the-clock functioning seven days a week.
Membrane keyboard
The robust, high-quality membrane keypad allows the user to use the Ethernet terminal with working gloves. The six freely programmable function keys can be programmed and labeled to customize.
Real-time clock
The MDA-PDA Terminal is equipped with a real-time clock, battery buffered, TCXO, ± 60 sec. time divergence per year (0° - 40° C).
IP 54 protection class
The industrial standard IP54 protection rating is achieved in the Industry and TMS versions of the Ethernet terminals.
If the built-in version is mounted according to instructions, a protection rating of IP54can also be reached (depending on the assembly of Ethernet terminals). ["IP54" means dust- and spray-protected]
Firmware Update
Loading a new firmware version can be performed easily and quickly with the provided confguration tool.
