RS-232 Interface Tester with Overvoltage Protection
|
|
Serial signals all at one glanceThe RS-232 Interface Tester (Fig. 1) can display serial RS232 signals (at a SUB-D9 interface). The interface tester is installed at an existing serial connection. Its two jumper blocks allow you to switch through signals individually.
The interface tester offers easy direct switching from 1:1 mode to modem or null modem as well as a loop-back connection which saves additional cables.
Its seven bicolor LEDs indicate whether a line signal is active (high/low, +/-). |

On the input side of the RS 232 interface, a multi-pin connector provides easy 1:1 access to all interface pins, allowing you to perform tests (e.g. with a multimeter test set, oscilloscope, etc.) during runtime.
For maximum protection, we have equipped the output side of the RS 232 Interface Tester (sub D connector) with suppressor diodes (signals to GND) and a decoupling capacitor (between the screen and GND). The suppressor diodes provide overvoltage protection, activated at signal levels higher than 18V (Fig. 2).
All these features are compactly integrated on less than 4.2cm X 9.3cm. |

Advantages of the RS232 Interface Tester:
- Individual signal configuration (speed selection of 1:1, modem, null modem and loop-back thanks to simple jumper settings)
- Visual diagnostic indicators for the DTR, DSR, RXD, RTS, CTS, and DCD signals with clearly arranged bicolor LEDs
- Test points for direct access to the input side of RS232 SUB-D9 connector (for connecting devices such as multimeter test sets, oscilloscopes, etc.)
- Overvoltage protection through suppressor diodes at every signalling line to ground and decoupling capacitor (activated at output signal power >18V)
- Excellent workmanship with high-quality components and professional design
- Compact size (small measurements) facilitates testing in locations with difficilt access
- No DB25 to DB9 adaptors required
- Only one cable required for all tests
- Additional test adapters are not required because they have already been integrated.
Numerous integrated functions make accessory components such as adapters, cables, etc. unnecessary.
Compared to most other interface testers our product does not require any DB25 to DB9 adapers which create additional sources of possible error. |
