RS232-Time Recording Terminal via LAN
Example of ipcas RS232-to-LAN Converter (ipEther232)
using time registration ELV TimeMaster (link to German website)
within a local network.
- Cost-effective and user-friendly integration of time recording terminals (with RS232 interfaces) to spatially distant PCs.
- No placing restrictions due to LAN (Ethernet)
- No need for RS232/RS485 cable harnesses
- Reliable data transmission (RS232 to LAN)

Favorable user-friendly alternative
The ipEther232 (RS232 to LAN) from the company ipcas GmbH can be simply connected serially over its serial interface (at the RS232 exit) to the HUB at which the time registration terminals are attached. Over the Ethernet or LAN, the data then reach the main device (PC with time registration software) which is connected with the ipEther232 through a virtual COM port. Due to the LAN connection you can avoid time-consuming cable laying.
Long-range accessibility
With RS232-to-Lan converters (ipEther232), long distances can be bridged within the network. This way the data of the time registration terminals can be sent without any problem to another location where they can be recorded or evaluated. The RS232-to-LAN Converter offers the ideal solution for companies with several branch offices one of which is exclusively reserved for executive management.
Secure data communication
The RS232-to-LAN converter interface provides integrated password protection for safe transmission of sensitive data. Thus it is effectively screened from unauthorized access and data manipulation.
Compact design and simple integration
Due to its compact design (approx. 110/30/75 mm for desktop device, 45/108/73 mm DIN-Rail unit), the ipEther232 (RS232 to LAN) can be neatly integrated into tight arrangements. The DIN-Rail version can be installed on the DIN-Rails of control units or panels.
