RS232 – USB Converter

USB Printer to Serial RS232 Interface

USB-equipped printers are becoming increasingly popular on the industrial market. Now, imagine yourself in need of spare parts for your conventional log printer when the suppliers are gradually running out of stock because the item is being phased out - and this in times of  growing reporting demands. Well, thanks to the "ipcas RS232 to USB Converter" there is no need to worry anymore:
The RS232 to USB converter easily connects to existing printer interfaces, saving you time and costs for refitting machines or interfaces. Moreover, it is ready to run and enables you to print all kinds of log
and graphics formats with a standard USB printer in black and white or color.

The ipcas RS232 – USB Converter generally allows you to connect modern USB printers to older serial interface machines or devices to file log reports. All you have to do then is simply replace your conventional log printer with a standard USB* or network printer - without having to install time-consuming printer drivers.

You can also easily output data on a USB Stick and change over to a paperless logging system, thus saving time, costs, and material. Moreover, the data can be archived in a database and made readily available for further processing at a mouse-click.

Reduced paper consumption

USB printers also known as page printers consume substantially less paper for periodic log reporting. The printing process is optimized due to the fact that the individual print lines are first accumulated in the RS232 USB Converter before they are printed out automatically page by page in DIN A4 paper format. Incomplete page prints stored in the printer memory can be printed manually using the function push-button.

Increased data security

The RS232 USB Converter has a dynamic memory for increased data security. In case of device failure the USB printer has a data buffer memory of more than 100 DIN A4 pages. The printing of collected data starts automatically as soon as the printer problem has been solved. Alternatively, a USB Stick can be used for for electronic data retrieval.

Wide selection of printers

By using an RS232 USB Converter you can easily replace your conventional log printers with new USB printers*. There is a huge choice of 1500 USB printers avaliable on the market, ranging from ink jet to laser printers for black and white or color printing.

No refitting required

The ipcas RS232 to USB Converter is virtually maintance-free, allowing plants or production sites to connect new generations of printers to older machines for log reporting. No reffiting of machines or interfaces required!

Easy Configuration

Default settings and additional paramters such as the transmission speed from the serial interface or time stamps between periodic logs can be easily set or adjusted at the RS232 USB Converter. You simply use a PC to call up the configuration software from the included USB memory stick, and then change and save the parameters. Finally, you connect the USB memory stick to the RS232 USB converter. Done. The ipcas converter automatically adopts all settings and saves them in its internal memory. Software updates are performed in the same way using the USB memory stick.
