Serial devices in WLAN The RS232/RS485 Wireless LAN Converter integrates serial devices into local wireless networks. Since most devices are already equipped with RS232/485 interfaces, the Serial WLAN Converter offers a quick and cost-effective solution to interconnect your serial devices into a wireless network. "Networking" has already become a global standard. Using a wireless client and an ipEther232 thus clearly enhances the value of your equipment and prepares the ground for your plant's future success.

Application

The RS232 WLAN solution provides a serial interface which can be integrated wirelessly into a wireless LAN. Using a hub, even Ethernet devices can be linked, and all connections can be used separately. The following modes are supported: WLAN client, Access Point, and ad hoc mode.

ipEther232.WLAN This graphic shows ipEther232.WLAN in ad hoc mode. A workstation enables access to the serial interface of any device via WLAN and virtual COM port.

ipEther232.Modem	Ethernet Modem All applications and serial devices supporting terminal or modem functions can be used via Ethernet.
ipEther232.PPP	PPP-Gateway The PPP Ethernet converter allows the transmission of network packages via serial interface to and from the Ethernet.
ipEther232.IO	Datalogger / Eventlogger The Datalogger features either 6 digital inputs or 4 digital inputs and 2 digital outputs. The collected data is automatically sent to the server via Ethernet.
ipNTP	NTP Standalone TimeServer (DCF77/GPS) The NTP server transfers exact time information via Ethernet to time-critical devices for synchronization.
