Benefits / Costs
Time and cost saving
Due to the spatial independence the Ethernet - Serial Converter provides, maintenance work can be implemented much more efficiently than before.
The operator/administrator can perform all the required tasks from a centralized location (standard work station) via Ethernet, thus avoiding long drives, saving both time and costs.
User-friendly networking and commissioning
High-cost, time-consuming wire laying is avoided by using the Ethernet. The provided ipEthers232 (Ethernet - Serial Converter) configuration software
is quick and easy to follow and does not require any special networking skills. With the STEP 7-Micro/WIN Manager,
you are able to monitor, configure, and program the Simantic S7-200 via Ethernet.
Simple board replacement
In the case of a defect S7-200 device, you can replace it, reconfigure and reprogram the new one much more easily.
All you have to do is rewire the connections (PPI cable, power supply and IO´s). Then you can perform the programming,
configuring, and monitoring via teleservice (remote maintenance) from your own office PC.

Application
Process monitoring
Using the Ethernet, you can observe the process data much more effectively and conveniently from a standard workstation.
Administration
Up- und downloads can be performed quickly and reliably by the administrator.
Teleservice
Thus networked maintenance enables continuous process monitoring and helps the administrator to detect and respond to breakdowns, program errors, and faulty configuration without delay.
