How do you convert a PCL file into a PDF?

In order to be able to convert a PCL file into a PDF, you require a PCL-to-PDF converter. These kind of programs, for example, "OakDoc PCLToPDF v1.1", are available for a fee or as a demo version (limited functions, limited usable time, etc.) in the Internet. To convert the PCL file, simply follow the instructions of the PCL-to-PDF converter.
How do you convert an ASCII file into a PDF?

In order to be able to convert an ASCII file into a PDF, you require a ASCII-to-PDF converter. These kind of programs, for example "Ap Text To PDF v2.2", are available for a fee or as a demo version (limited functions, limited usable time, etc.) in the Internet. To convert the ASCII file, simply follow the instructions of the ASCII-to-PDF converter.
How do you transfer FTP data from the printer converter to the PC?

  1. Download an FTP client, for example "Filezilla FTP" or "WinSCP2" (available free of costs in the Internet), and install it.
  2. Connect the power supply to the LINUX Box LB1.
  3. Connect the LINUX Box LB1 to the network.
  4. Dial-up window, for example, of "Filezilla FTP2":
    - Host:    192.168.0.90 (default setting of Linux Box)
    - Port:        21
    - Server type:    FTP
    - Logon type:    Normal
    - User:     root
    - Password:    pass
    Observe the IP area of your own PC!
    If you want to keep the LINUX Box default configuration (IP address 192.168.0.90), you must configure your own PC with the corresponding IP address, for example, 192.168.0.XX (Start -> System control -> Network connections).
    -> Connect
  5. In the folder "/mnt" you will find several subfolders.
    Folder:   "0"     -> USB port
    "CF"     -> Compact Flash card
  6. Collect required folders or insert them (The procedure depends on the FTP client you are using).

How do you generate a log file on the USB Stick with the printer converter?

  1. First a folder "ipcas" must be created on the print USB Stick.
    -> Then a subfolder "support" must be created in the "ipcas" folder.
  2. The printer and the print USB Stick have to be removed from the printer converter.
  3. "Print" the data into the printer converter (For this, the option "Wait for USB Stick" and "Wait for printer" have to be deactivated in the configuration tool).
  4. Insert the print USB Stick into the printer converter -> The data is written into the USB Stick.
  5. Wait until the print data has been written on the print USB Stick (COM1 or COM2 LED no longer blinks)
  6. Pull out USB Stick (Press "Logout" button first).
  7. Send the entire "ipcas" folder to our support team:

How do you install the Compact Flash holder?

To install the holder >>
What if ...

.... the red printer LED blinks slowly? That means:The printer is switched off / not connected / defect or not recognized.
Solution: Disconnect the USB/LAN plug of the printer and plug it in again after two seconds.

.... the red format LED blinks fast? That means: Print data are available for HP-compatible printers (PCL), and the fact was recognized that no compatible printer is connected.
Solution: Please connect an HP-compatible printer.

.... the red input LED blinks? That means: A data transfer error has occurred.
Solution: The data transfer rate in the machine control was set wrong, or the connecting cable was connected to the wrong port (occurs only with a serial interface).

.... the USB Stick should be removed or exchanged during machine operation?
Solution: If "Wait for USB Stick" was configured and the machine acknowledges the serial handshaking, then you can log out the USB Stick from the printer converter by pressing the push-button (in parallel data transfers the handshaking is always acknowledged automatically). The system LED should light up orange to signal there is no more data carrier available. The data flow is stopped until a new data carrier is connected via USB.
If the machine does not support the handshaking, or if you do not want to stop the data flow for too long, you can first insert a second USB data carrier and press the push-button after a short time. The machine logging is then continued immediately on the new USB Stick after logging out the current one.
Caution: Data loss might occur if the USB Stick is not logged out properly prior to removal.
