Reference Solutions for ipEther232 Serial to Ethernet Converters
| Industry: |
In connection with a SIEMENS SIMATC S7-200 SPS control system, the ipEther232 RS232/Ethernet converter can be used for process control, administration, or teleservice (remote maintenance). ipEther232 simplifies these tasks considerably because it enables access to serial interfaces through the TCP/IP Ethernet. Error correction, changes, or setting up new programs can now be performed comfortably at the serial port via Ethernet. Thus ample spatial distances can be easily overcome. |

When CNC machines are addressed via ipEther232, CNC programs can be managed centrally on an Ethernet server. Programs can be uploaded and downloaded in every CNC machine through the network. This simplifies the administration of CNC programs substantially. The serial direct-connection via RS232 interface (COM port) to a computer is thus no longer required. |
| Communication systems: |
ipEther232 enables communication systems with RS232 interfaces to be integrated into a local network without effort. The administration no longer has to be performed on site, but can be accomplished from anywhere in the network with a “virtual serial COM port” via TCP/IP. Using the converter for charge management and time recording of telephone calls in hotel systems is just one example within a wide range of efficient applications. |
